Welwitschia mirabilis - Deep 4 Inch Pots

That's right! We have a very limited number of ~9 month-old seed-grown Welwitschia mirabilis for sale. The seeds were obtained from a private collection in Texas and were featured in a short seed project on our social media.

Welwitschia mirabilis is an extraordinary cone-bearing species native to the Namib desert. It is commonly referred to as an "ancient plant" due to its amazing ability to survive and grow for thousands of years (no, that does not mean it has to be that old to produce cones). It grows two leaves that persist the entire lifespan of the plant, constantly growing longer and longer as long as the plant lives.

These are established plants potted in 4 x 9 inch pots so will not require repotting again for another few years. They are potted in a 90% inorganic, 10% organic media. These require bright light, frequent watering (typically once a week or within 1-2 days after the media dries out), and light fertilizing every other watering (we use slow release like nutricote).
